The speedometer on my van works, but the milometer doesn't. Any ideas?

The speedometer on my 1997 Peugeot Boxer works, but the milometer doesn't. Do you know what might be the issue?

This reads like one of the plastic gears has got stuck or become broken behind the dashboard. The instrument binnacle will probably need to come out for the part to be repaired or replaced.
