What Volkswagen Transporter is best for my budget?
I want to buy a Volkswagen Transporter Kombi van and have £15,000 - £18,000 to spend. I'd appreciate a bit of advice about which exact spec/engine/year to aim for. The vehicle will be used for both work (I’m a joiner, carrying round power tools etc - but nothing especially heavy) and family (two adults, three kids and one dog).

If you drive long distances on a regular basis (15+ miles per trip) then a T6 2.0 TDI with 150PS and a manual gearbox would be a good all-rounder. It has lots of low-gear pull (for hauling heavy tools and equipment) and is smooth at motorway speeds. Highline models have the highest spec, so spend a little extra for one of these if you want luxuries like alloy wheels and body coloured bumpers.
