A car for hauling beer barrels - what's best?

I need a car with a big estate boot to carry barrels of beer - approx. six barrels at a time, weight approximately 55s or 330kg.
Comfortable and reliable are keywords, was looking at a 10-year-old Mercedes-Benz E300 diesel at about £3k.

Any other suggestions or should I just stick to a van and run a car for my private motoring?

W210 Mercedes are Rustbuckets. Yes, van better. But if it has to be an estate, then a Mondeo.
