not good on fuel and underpowered

I have owned this van since 2011 , it has always seemed under powered and if you get it in the wrong gear going up a long hill you are in trouble. The build quality is of a good standard with no signs of corrosion anywhere , and it does have creature comforts such as a/c remote locking and power windows, but this doesn't make up for its thirsty nature . I used to run a vauxhall combo 1.7 td and on a full tank you could easily return 500 miles on local runs and if you were steady enogh on a motorway nearly 600, but this transit connect returns only 300-330 miles on a local and exactly the same on a motorway. Driving wise it is sturdy on the road and good handling and servicing wise has been good not too expensive apart from a timing belt failure which was only put on certain models between 2007 and 2008 , I had the top one changed and it was believed the bottom one was a chain even by the local Ford dealer, until it snapped! I have drove quite a few other vans and unfortunately I would not recommend this one
